Apprenticeships for Applicants

Apprenticeships - good for business

About Finance – Apprenticeships

More and more young people are choosing apprenticeships as a fantastic way to gain valuable work experience alongside a recognised professional qualification. Better still, as an employee you will earn a salary as you work towards your certification.

If you think that an apprenticeship might be right for you, read our information kit to find out more.

What is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships put you in the workplace instead of restricting you to a school desk. Candidates earn a real wage, get paid holiday and gain industry-specific training while also working towards recognised qualifications.

Ultimately, you will be able to offer highly employable skills.

Who are they for?

If you’re aged 16+ then you may be able to apply for an apprenticeship in financial services. Many apprentices are recent school-leavers but you can also apply if you are in work or hoping to start a new career.

What are the benefits of an apprenticeship?

  • Earn an average weekly wage of £210 alongside your learning.
  • Get a head start in your career.
  • Gain relevant work experience.
  • Gain a nationally recognised professional qualification.
  • Progress faster than at university, earning a work-based accredited qualification with the bonus of work experience, in less time than it takes to complete a degree course.
  • Avoid costly university fees.

Do I need to have a job to complete an Apprenticeship?

Yes. But we will help you and enhance your chances of finding the right apprenticeship position.

Do I get holidays?

Yes.  You’ll usually be offered 20 days paid holiday per year, as well as bank holidays.

I'm aged 16+, have left school and am already in a job, can I still do an apprenticeship?

Yes. You can complete an apprenticeship with your current employer, as long as they agree.

I have already got a degree - can apply for an Apprenticeship?

Unfortunately, not. Apprenticeships are not offered to people who hold a degree or alternative level 4 qualifications. However, you could still complete a relevant course if your employer is happy to pay for it.

When should I start looking for an Apprenticeship?

Whenever you like! There is no deadline for applications – you can apply for apprenticeships all year round. However, this might not mean you will be able to start training straight away. This will depend on the availability of an apprenticeship position with an employer.
